Sunday, June 24th
was a special day. Many months of preparation culminated in a
7-hour workshop that introduced seven new students to the Ojima
System. Alicia, Amanda, Dotty, Monica (not pictured), Piete, Pilar,
and Tony demonstrated their open-mindedness and willingness to
learn and practice skills taught by Gilbert and Mary Lou Cruz as
a means to further the self-actualization process.
“Reiki, is merely a part of
the process,” explains Gilbert. “The
OjimaReiki
System is based on
core principles that apply to every aspect of life. Honesty,
Open-mindedness and Willingness – that is the foundation of
everything we teach.”
Students were asked to
answer a few simple questions in the beginning, like what they
expected to get from the training and what their understanding
of Reiki was before taking the workshop, etc. At the end of the
day, they went back and revisited the same questions to compare
their answers after the training was complete. Without
exception, the consensus was that each person had gotten much
more out of the class than they had anticipated.
“I can only say that after this training session, I feel that a
whole new path has been opened to me for my spiritual journey
and it is very exciting,” confided Tony, who wasn’t quite sure
what to expect in the beginning. “I immediately included Reiki
in my morning meditation and it has added a whole new powerful
and unique dimension to that process. The group sessions are so
energizing and yet calming. I feel so fortunate to have been
introduced to
OjimaReiki.”
Simply put:
OjimaReiki is a
non-invasive, mind-body technique with no side effects. It is a
practice used for stress reduction and deep relaxation, enabling
the body’s natural ability to heal itself. It
requires no participation by the receiver, except for being open-minded and
willing, however, intention is paramount.
“It’s the power of
thought,” says Mary Lou. “A thought form is energy, a mental
picture, if you will.” In its simplest form,
OjimaReiki involves the transfer of energy
from one person to another.
After Sunday’s
transformative energy, an impromptu Reiki circle was formed on
Wednesday evening, by invitation only. Not all of the students
were available to attend, but those who could joined friends
Jose, Maryam and Melinda for a final farewell to the Ojima Reiki
& gifts location and wished Gilbert and Mary Lou well on the
continuation of their journey together.
