Benefits of
Meditation:
• Relaxing the body reduces stress
• Enhances learning and retaining new information
• Promotes problem solving
• Restores inner peace
Many people who are unfamiliar with meditative techniques often
think that to meditate means you are supposed to stop thinking
altogether – to quiet the mind chatter. But meditation is not so
much about stopping your thoughts and blanking out your mind as it
is learning and practicing discipline so that when your focus
starts to wander, you have developed the ability to bring your
mind back to the present moment and continue meditating.
Meditation is not meant to be a
form of escape but rather it is a way to reconnect and realign
your consciousness with your intuition. When you are able to sit
quietly and face your innermost fears and accept them for what
they are – just thoughts – then you begin to gain freedom by
disempowering the fear.
There are many different kinds of
meditation – it doesn’t require any special belief system or
ability to sit in any particular position and it doesn’t require
chanting, music or burning incense, even though these may help
enhance the experience. Some people do a walking meditation where
they focus on their breath, their stride and get in tune with the
rhythm of their own heartbeat. Others may contemplate on a
particular object like a candle flame or a rose petal. The idea is
to narrow the focus of your attention to just one thing, thought,
phrase or word. The less distractions you have, the more clarity
you can attain.
Appreciating nature is always a
good way to begin, perhaps sitting under a tree or by a
lake or
just lying on the grass and looking up at the sky. Some people like
meditating at the beach, so that the sound of the ocean waves help
induce a level of meditation to a deeper level of awareness. But
it doesn’t matter where or how you meditate, as long as you are
able to relax and quiet the mind.
Relaxation is the key to reaching a
more peaceful state of mind, being able to think more clearly, and
feeling more at ease. It is a process of discovering and becoming
comfortable with who you are. It doesn't require standing on your
head or sitting in any peculiar position. It can be done any
where, any time, in any place, with eyes open or closed.
You may be familiar with negative self-talk. That’s the seemingly
endless mind chatter that bombards the human consciousness every
waking minute of every day. Do you want to continue to allow it to
control you or are you ready to learn new techniques to take back
your power and gain more control and manageability in your life?
Believe it or not: Meditation can help, even if you only do it
10-15 minutes a day. The more you do it, the better it works and
the better it works, the more you will want to keep doing it.
Meditation, like anything else can
become habit-forming. But that’s a good thing. Science says that
you can only hold one thought in your mind at any given time. So,
if you are continually telling yourself that you hate your job or
that your boss makes you sick – guess what? Every day that you
keep giving energy to those thoughts, you are actually affirming
them! And the more you affirm something, the more it tends to show
up in your life. So, what’s a person to do? Well, this is where
meditation and positive reinforcement techniques come into play.
Attitude and perception are everything. You’ve heard the adage:
Change your thoughts, change your life. Well, it’s true.
Let’s say you have a stressful job.
The job itself doesn’t have the power to give you ulcers or high
blood pressure. It’s just a job. What gives you ulcers and high
blood pressure is your inability to manage the stressful thoughts
you have about situations that occur. Meditation can help reduce
and alleviate the effects of stress on your body.
Meditation is a powerful tool to
help you learn how to reinvent your world. Transformative
meditation guides you in overwriting the negative images you have
of yourself with the image that is the real you – powerful,
vibrant, and joyful. The use of positive, affirming language
plants seeds that – when nourished through repetition – will allow
you to begin to change the way you think about yourself. And when
you change the way you think about yourself, you begin to respond
differently to others and the world around you. And when you respond
differently to situations, your circumstances begin to shift
because once your perception changes, your attitude, your
awareness and your life experiences change also.
When you
continually struggle to overcome the
negative images impressed on your mind by parents, teachers,
friends, and others, you only reinforce those negative perceptions
of who you are and who you can become. Through guided imagery,
visualization techniques and meditation, we show you how to put an
end to that struggle. Meditation is a powerful tool that can
simplify your life by increasing a sense of calm and enhancing
your innate ability to tap into your internal reservoir of
creative thoughts, ideas, answers and solutions.
In a relaxed state of mind, your
imagination acts powerfully
on your subconscious to overwrite the
flawed image you hold of yourself. Practicing meditation can lead
you on a transformative journey and show you how to cultivate a
profound inner peace and expand your awareness of who you really
are. Creative MindTalk techniques can assist in bringing you the
joy and fulfillment you desire. When applied and practiced, Creative MindTalk
demonstrates how it is possible to recover the real you, so you
too can begin to live a new way of life.
